Two more !!

I am down another 2 lbs this week.  I am now working out during my lunch break.  That will allow me to get a little more sleep in the morning, plus it helps get rid of my appetite before I eat my lunch.  Wink

Up again

I feel like a yo-yo.  Every time I lose a few pounds, it comes right back.  However, I think I am still on the right track.  Although my weight was up a pound for my last weigh in, I have lost a pound since that time.  I will not reach my goal weight, but have noticed that my clothes do fit better.  It will be a slow process.  I know I will have to work out the rest of my life and will see the benfits in many ways over time.  I wish everyone luck on their journey.  Alena H.

Still here

My body must really like this weight.  I am doing as many workouts as I can.  I am starting to get really frustrated.Baring teeth  But I will continue.  Starting march 3rd I can workout on my lunch break at work.  that should increase my results. I hope.....

Alena's story

I was excited when my sister asked me to join her in this weight loss challenge. I am 35 years old and have been struggling with the typical roller coaster wieght problems. Last year I successfully lost about 15 pounds and thought I would keep most of it off. I excercised 6 days a week for about 7- 10 hours. I was so proud of my accomplishments and felt good about myself. However, I slowly started gaining the weight back. I began excercising less and not eating the right types of foods. Every time I gained a pound, I just shrugged it off. It was only one pound. The pounds kept adding up till I was almost back at my starting weight within a few months. I maintained for about seven months, but gained it back in about four. Although I do not have much to lose, I know as I get older it will be more difficult to maintain if I am not in shape. I used to be able to eat what I wanted without excercising and still maintained my weight. Once I hit 25, my metabolism slowed down. I would like to be in a routine where I do not have to constantly worry about what I eat and how often I excercise. I hope this time to be successful and maintain.

Dez's Story

I am 33 years old and living in RI. I enter this contest with my sister Alena. We live in separate states but see each other often. I have been struggling with my weight since the birth of my first child 15 years ago. My happy weight was at 125 lbs. I would go up and down whenever I wasn’t paying attention. With each child I gained the normal pregnancy weight but would usually take at least a year to lose it. I finally got back to my happy weight when my youngest child was about 1 ½ years old. I haven’t been there in about 3 years now. I got a stomach bug that my body still has not recovered from. After years of doctors I have all but given up on getting back to normal. The best explanation I got from my doctors (after lots of tests and medications) is that I have super bacteria that will not leave. The bacteria feed off of my food and my body gets what ever is left over. I don’t think I even have a metabolism anymore. When I don’t workout I can very easily gain weight, but even with daily workouts (usually around 9-10 hours a week) I cannot seem to lose the weight. The largest portion of my weight gain was from a bout of steroids the doctor gave me to try to combat the excess white blood cells in my intestines (about 2 years ago). I was told my body is in starvation mode because the bacterium gets the best of the food. As a result food is painful to digest (especially the things I know I should be eating like raw vegetables) and my stomach swells to an uncomfortable size after meals and during the night. Often I can’t keep my food down long enough to digest it at all. The doctors have been unsuccessful in figuring out what is wrong. So, for now I just eat right and exercise and hope my health will improve. We all have our struggles with weight gain and the seemingly impossible process of losing it. It is good to know I am not alone in my struggle. We will keep each other motivated……
